AI Render Upgrade takes an existing architectural image and generates photorealistic variations from it. The geometry, proportions, and spatial relationships stay fixed — what changes is the lighting, atmosphere, season, and surface quality of the output.

This solves a specific problem: a project has renders that were produced early in the design process, or directly exported from ArchiCAD, Revit, or SketchUp without post-processing. The design is correct but the images don’t communicate quality. The AI upgrade produces finished, photorealistic output from those existing images without rebuilding the scene in 3D.

What changes and what stays

The AI uses the input image as structural and compositional guidance. ControlNet conditioning extracts the depth, edge structure, and spatial organization of the image and uses it to anchor the generation — so the building stays where it is, the camera angle stays fixed, and the massing remains correct. What the AI generates is the surface quality, lighting, atmosphere, and material character.

What stays fixed:

  • Building geometry and massing
  • Camera angle and composition
  • Spatial relationships between elements

What the AI generates:

  • Photorealistic material surfaces (stone, glass, metal, concrete, wood)
  • Lighting conditions (daylight direction, sky quality, shadow depth)
  • Seasonal state (summer greenery, autumn colour, winter snow)
  • Weather and atmosphere (clear, overcast, rain, dusk, golden hour)
  • Context (people, vehicles, landscaping appropriate to the atmosphere)

Variations per image

Each input image produces up to 10 variations. Variations can explore:

  • Different seasons (the same building in spring, summer, autumn, winter)
  • Different times of day (morning, midday, golden hour, blue hour)
  • Different weather states (clear, overcast, dramatic sky)
  • Different material interpretations (within the structural constraints of the input)

Multiple variations allow comparison without the cost of producing multiple photorealistic renders from scratch.

Input requirements

Accepted inputs Rendered images from any software — 3ds Max, V-Ray, Lumion, Twinmotion, Enscape, Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp. Direct software exports without retouching are accepted.
Image quality Higher-quality input produces higher-quality output. Noisy, very low-resolution, or heavily compressed input images limit the AI's ability to extract useful structural information.
Output resolution 6 megapixels per image. Approximately 3000 × 2000 pixels at standard landscape ratio.
Minimum order 5 images with up to 10 AI variations each. Available at ai.visiongraphics.eu.

When this is useful

Concept-phase renders — the design is still developing, but you need compelling images for a presentation or funding round. A fast AI upgrade produces images that communicate intent and quality without committing to a full photorealistic render production.

Software exports — ArchiCAD, Revit, and SketchUp exports are typically flat, unlit, and textureless compared to V-Ray renders. The AI upgrade closes that gap without re-rendering in a different package.

Seasonal and weather variations — a single render upgraded to show four seasons or multiple weather conditions, for projects where context response is part of the design argument.

Existing render library — older renders from a previous phase that still correctly show the geometry but need updating in atmosphere or material quality for a new presentation.

What it doesn’t do

AI Render Upgrade is not the same as producing a new photorealistic render from a fully developed 3D scene. Material control is guided by the input but not specified element by element. Surface quality is generated probabilistically — results are photorealistic in character but not guaranteed to match exact specified materials. For material-precise output, a full V-Ray render from the 3D model is required.

The AI also does not generate interior content from exterior inputs, or add structural elements not present in the original image.
