Background

In 1998, Inter-Európa Bank was expanding its branch network throughout Hungary, including locations in Budapest, Székesfehérvár, and Debrecen. This particular branch was uniquely situated in the historic Bányász-villa at the corner of Pasaréti út and Udvarhelyi utca, designed by Rimanóczy Gyula, one of Hungary's most distinguished modernist architects. The villa represented Rimanóczy's elegant architectural style that blended modern principles with classical elements. The interior design by Tompa Balázs of CGT Studio aimed to create a contemporary banking space while respecting the architectural integrity of this significant building. This project took place during a pivotal period in Inter-Európa Bank's history, just a decade before its eventual merger with CIB Bank in 2008.

What We Did

For this distinctive project, we created detailed 3D floor plans of the historic Bányász-villa, carefully documenting the architectural layout of Rimanóczy's original design. This required meticulous attention to the building's unique spatial characteristics and architectural details that made it a notable example of the architect's work from the 1930s.

We also produced three high-quality interior renders showcasing the planned Inter-Európa Bank branch within the villa. These visualizations demonstrated how the contemporary banking functions would be integrated into the historic structure while maintaining its architectural character. Our renders highlighted the balance between preserving the villa's distinctive features and accommodating modern banking requirements.

The visualization work required close collaboration with interior designer Tompa Balázs to accurately represent materials, lighting, and spatial arrangements. We ensured that our renders effectively communicated how the banking hall, customer service areas, and staff workspaces would function within the constraints of the historic building.

These visualizations played a crucial role in helping stakeholders understand how the bank branch would respect the architectural heritage of the Rimanóczy-designed villa while creating a functional, welcoming environment for Inter-Európa Bank's customers. The project exemplified how historic buildings could be thoughtfully adapted for contemporary commercial use without compromising their architectural integrity.
