Nizhniy Towers is a 160,000 sqm mixed-use development designed for the center of Nizhny Novgorod in 2013. The project features a composition of two blocks, each constructed of three base modules, creating a distinctive architectural statement with stunning views of the Kremlin while accommodating…
Background
Located in the heart of Nizhny Novgorod, this ambitious 100,000+ sqm development was designed to be one of the prime luxury residential projects in the city. The design team used square unit blocks to break down the massing into segments, highlighting the verticality of the towers while maintaining proportions that harmonize with the surrounding urban environment. A special feature of the design is the stepped caps of each individual tower, which incorporate a material change inspired by the onion domes of neighboring Russian Orthodox churches - creating spectacular penthouse terraces and giving the development a distinctive character.
What We Did
We created exterior visualizations and photo integrations for the Nizhniy Towers project, showcasing how this luxury development would sit within the historic center of Nizhny Novgorod. Our renderings highlighted the coherent grid pattern of the facades that accentuates the elegant proportions of the elongated blocks, with staggered elements creating visual interest within an ordered pattern. The visualizations also demonstrated how the complex layering of different functions - from parking and offices at lower levels to retail, public services, a private residential park, and finally the residential towers themselves - would create a cohesive mixed-use environment in one of Nizhny Novgorod's most prestigious locations.
