Prospekt Lenina is a 150,000 sqm shopping mall designed for Nizhny Novgorod, Russia in 2013. The development features a colorful and complex exterior envelope based on a strict set of design rules, with sharp lines and fragmented finishes creating a sophisticated backdrop for contemporary retail …
Background
Located in a strategically ideal position bordered by the streets of Druzhby, Entuziastov, and Geroya Samochkina, this development was designed to be highly visible from the main Prospekt Lenina while offering easy accessibility, including direct access from the metro. The design reflects the diverse urban environment of Nizhny Novgorod through its distinctive framed composition that gains depth as it approaches the main facade and entrance. A rich timber surface on the interior lining of the frame was designed to continue inside the building, blurring the boundary between exterior and interior environments.
What We Did
We created exterior visualizations and photo integrations for the Prospekt Lenina project, bringing to life the colorful and complex exterior envelope with its distinctive framed elements and feature materials. Our renderings showcased how the design would maximize natural light through triangular roof light features while creating a strong connection between interior and exterior spaces. The photo integrations demonstrated how this sophisticated retail development would fit into its urban context, highlighting its visibility from Prospekt Lenina and its relationship to surrounding buildings. Our visualizations helped communicate how this 'centre of retail excellence' would create a unique shopping destination in Nizhny Novgorod
