Újbuda Center is a unique commercial complex housed in a repurposed industrial monument. Originally built in 1960 as the Hungarian Cable Works manufacturing hall, this 44,000 m² plot was transformed into a modern shopping center while preserving its distinctive industrial character. The most stri…

Background

The transformation of this industrial space represents a perfect blend of heritage preservation and modern functionality. The N-S trending hall, stretching 240 meters long, 40 meters wide, and standing 17 meters tall, was originally constructed in 1960. Rather than demolishing this piece of industrial history when production ended, developers chose to remodel it, preserving its loft-like character while adapting it for retail and office use. In 2007, it was delivered as a commercial center, now housing more than 30 shops and offering 25,000 m² of retail space with excellent accessibility in Budapest's 11th district.

What We Did

Our visualization team created comprehensive visual materials for Újbuda Center, including detailed exterior renderings that highlight the building's unique industrial architecture and distinctive offset window facade. We developed aerial integration visuals to showcase how the center fits within its urban context at Hengermalom út 19-21 in Budapest's XI district. For the interiors, we focused on capturing the spacious, loft-like atmosphere that makes this shopping center so appealing to visitors, emphasizing how the original industrial character was preserved while accommodating modern retail needs
