NextNest

NextNest is an architectural project that responds to the changing landscape of modern housing needs and societal values. It acknowledges the shift away from unique, custom-built homes towards more practical, sustainable, and adaptable living spaces. The project aims to address the challenges of energy efficiency, comfort demands, and construction costs while avoiding the alienating nature of typical modern residential complexes. NextNest embodies the philosophy of building only what is necessary, allowing for easy expansion and modification, and aligns with the younger generations' rejection of consumerism in favor of a more sustainable lifestyle.

Our team was deeply involved in the NextNest design process, collaborating closely with architects to visualize their evolving concepts. As the project underwent frequent iterations, we faced the challenge of rapidly updating our 3D models to reflect these changes. To address this, we developed a custom workflow in 3ds Max using MaxScript, which allowed us to set standards for the SketchUp files and automate the 3D model update process for rendering. This innovative approach significantly streamlined our workflow, reducing update times from hours to mere minutes with just a single button press. To showcase the adaptability of the NextNest designs, we created a variety of natural environments, demonstrating how different house sizes and styles could integrate into various settings. Our visualization outputs were comprehensive, including high-quality still images, immersive panorama tours, and dynamic animations that brought the NextNest concept to life. We also produced VR presentations, which proved invaluable during the live premiere event, allowing potential clients to experience the spaces firsthand. Throughout the project, our ability to rapidly iterate and produce diverse, high-quality visualizations played a crucial role in refining the NextNest concept and effectively communicating its vision to stakeholders and the public.
